State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Imperial County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public meeting on December 17, 2024 at 11 :00 a.m., in the Board Chambers, County Administrative Center, 940 W. Main Street, suite 211, El Centro, California to discuss possible applications for funding under the State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and to gather residents’ ideas for possible activities to be included in the application.

The County of Imperial anticipates submitting an application during the next CDBG program year. The County of lmperial has or anticipates receiving approximately $35,000 in CDBG Program Income.

The purpose of this hearing is to review CDBG eligible activities and collect residents’ views on housing and community development needs (which includes services, facilities, and/or infrastructure that will improve livability within the community).

The County of Imperial is eligible to apply for a maximum of $1,800,000 under the Colonias Set-Aside allocation. The following are the maximum activity limits that can be applied for:

  • Over-the-Counter Projects (up to $1,800,000)
  • Planning (up to $300,000)

The County of Imperial intends on applying for a possible $1,800,000 under the 2024 CDBG NOF A for the following eligible Colonias Set-Aside activities:

I. Over-the-Counter Project

a. Community Building Emergency Generator & HV AC

Replacement of HV AC units and installations of emergency generators

in community buildings located in Niland, Palo Verde, and Salton Sea

Beach.

$1,500,000

II. Planning

a. Colonias Master Plan Update

Update of the existing Colonias Master Plan completed in 2014.

$ 300,000

The proposed projects will take place in low- and moderately-low income areas. None of the proposed projects will result in the displacement of persons or households.

Notice is hereby given that Pursuant to California Welfare and Institutions Code Section 56049(a) the Imperial County Behavioral Health Advisory Board is soliciting interested individuals to serve on the Imperial County Behavioral Health Advisory Board for a three (3) year term. Current vacancies are as follows

One (1) vacancy – District 1 Representative

Criteria:

  • Candidate may be a representative of the public interest in mental health who is not full-time or part-time employee of the County Behavioral Health Service, the State Department of Mental Health, or on the staff of, or a paid member of the governing body of, a Bronzan-McCorquodale contract agency.

  • Candidate may be a consumer or the parents, spouse, sibling, or adult children of consumers who are receiving or have received mental health services.

West Shores Community Council

West Shores Community Council

Notice is hereby given that the Imperial County Board of Supervisors is soliciting interested individuals to serve on the West Shores Community Council.

If you are interested, please contact the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at 940 W. Main Street, Suite 209 or by phone 442-265-1020 to request an application or you may obtain a copy at the Clerk of the Board’s website. Applications must be completed and submitted to the Clerk of the Board’s office.

Purpose:

The purpose of the Council shall only be advisory to the Board of Supervisors. The Council shall advise and recommend to the Board of Supervisors respecting any matter upon which such an advisory recommendation is specifically requested by the Board of Supervisors. As it deems appropriate, the Council may request that the Board of Supervisors allow the Council to represent the West Shores community to a state, county, city, special district or school district, agency or commission, or any other organization on any matter concerning said community.

Criteria:

Any owner of property, at least 18 years of age, within the area established as the “West Shores Community Council” area of jurisdiction shall be eligible for appointment to the Council.

Vacancies:

Nine (9) members

Term:

  • The term of office for each member shall be four (4) years.



  • Initial appointment: Five (5) of the nine (9) members appointed will serve a term of four (4) years. The remaining four (4) shall be appointed for a term of two (2) years.

  • Appointments made upon the expiration of the initial terms will be for four (4) years.
