Rain Safety Tips

  • Follow all instructions from emergency crews and alerts.

  • Make sure your car is ready for the rain. check tires, brakes, and wipers. Drive slowly and be careful; roads may be slippery.

  • Do not try to cross flooded roads or walk through moving water. Just 6 inches of water can knock you over, and 18–24 inches can carry away most cars and trucks. Turn around, don’t drown!

  • Stay away from flood channels, basins, and riverbeds.

  • Keep at least 100 feet away from downed power lines or wires, and call 911 to report them.
