The County of Imperial (County) draft Lithium Valley Specific Plan (LVSP) was released on February 7, 2025, for public review and comment. The County posted on its website: https://imperialcounty.org/lvsp/ that it would be accepting comments until Tuesday, April 1, 2025. During community workshops, the County received requests from community members for additional time to review and provide public comment on the draft LVSP as well as requests for additional community workshops on the draft LVSP.
The County will be extending the draft LVSP public comment period until Monday, May 5, 2025, at 5pm PST. The County will hold two additional virtual workshops. One workshop will be hosted in Spanish, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 6pm (Join Zoom Meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89235610923?pwd=9Xmp6KMIGmbh8zx5lM9SOogCPAxcau.1 Meeting ID: 892 3561 0923, Passcode: 283155) and one workshop will be hosted in English on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 6pm (Join Zoom Meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82627020929?pwd=sC4X8pzfsjg03u9ngyHn3bBoEoKare.1 Meeting ID: 826 2702 0929 Passcode: 993768). Both meetings will be held virtually, via zoom and allow online questions and engagement, however, to ensure accessibility of the workshop, in person viewing of the meeting and participation will also be available.
The Wednesday, April 16, 2025, meeting given in Spanish will be available for viewing at the Imperial County Niland Cooling Center: 8071 Luxor Ave., Niland, CA 92251. The April 17, 2025, meeting given in English will be available for viewing at the County of Imperial Board of Supervisors Chambers: 940 W Main St., Floor 2, El Centro, CA 92243.
The County is referring the draft LVSP to Citizens, California Native American Indian tribes, public agencies, public utility companies, water suppliers, and civic, education, and other community groups identified in Government Code Section 65352. Comments on the draft LVSP will be accepted in writing only, by submitting comments through the form at the County of Imperial website (www.imperialcounty.org/lvsp), or at the Planning and Development Services Department (801 Main Street El Centro, CA 92243,) or at one of the County hosted workshops. The County will review any comments received up to that time, however, formal responses will not be provided.
Please note that the County has not yet completed the Programmatic Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR), and any correspondence received prior to the issuance of the Notice of Availability/Notice of Completion shall not be considered a comment on the Programmatic Draft Environmental Impact Report.
